Journal Entry: The Tradition of the Hunt

Date: 27th February 2025

Location: Hawthorne Manor, Wiltshire

There are few traditions as deeply woven into the fabric of England’s heritage as the fox hunt. It is not merely sport—it is discipline, strategy, and command embodied in motion. As the weekend draws near, preparations for the upcoming hunt at Hawthorne Manor are well underway. The hounds are in their prime, the horses conditioned, the route carefully mapped. Every detail meticulously arranged, as it should be.

The hunt is a test—not only of skill, but of presence. A rider must command his horse as he commands his own will: with precision, with unwavering control. It is a dance between power and restraint, between instinct and calculation.

Beyond its physical rigor, the hunt is tradition, a remnant of an era where leadership was not merely proclaimed but demonstrated. It is a reminder of the values that define mastery—Dominance, Discipline, and Determination.

As I stand in the stables this evening, running a hand over the bridle of my mount, I reflect on what awaits. The thrill of the chase, the measured patience before the strike, the decisive moment when instinct and control meet. It is in these moments that a man reveals his nature.

This weekend will be no different. The hunt will commence, the test will be faced. And as always—I shall ride ahead.
